leu·ke·mi·a
lo͞oˈkēmēə
noun
a malignant progressive disease in which the bone marrow and other blood-forming organs produce increased numbers of immature or abnormal leukocytes. These suppress the production of normal blood cells, leading to anemia and other symptoms.

We took Bailey to see her pediatrician because we thought she might have Mono. A few hours later we were told to take her to Nemours as soon as possible. Her blood work came back positive, but not for Mono. Her white blood cell count was 579,000 and her blast cell perctage was 99%. Rachel knew full well what it ment and Christopher was hoping it was a huge error. A few hours later it was confired, the doctor came into the ER room and told us our worst fears, Bailey has Leukemia. Our second born, baton twirling dancer, high energy, bubbly Bailey Bird has Cancer.
